About Practice Self
My Journey to Conscious Creativity
My name is Justin Grossman, and I started Practice Self after going through my own decade-long journey of self-actualization. What I learned changed my life, my business, and ultimately my purpose — and now I share those learnings with others.
As entrepreneurs and professionals, we often see only the successes of our peers, not the struggles. I know this firsthand. For over 20 years, I built a digital marketing agency in the healthcare space, growing it from just a few people into a company with 80 employees and 8-figure revenue. We were recognized on the Inc. 5000 list five years in a row, and in 2022 I sold the business in a strategic sale.
From the outside, everything looked like success. Inside, it was a different story.
Success on the Outside, Struggle on the Inside
When I began my entrepreneurial journey, I was driven but terrified — afraid of failing, unsure of my skills, worried about paying bills and payroll. As the company grew, the stakes grew too, and so did the fear.
Instead of celebrating success, I found myself consumed by worry. After 10 years, that constant stress started showing up physically: severe back pain, visible ticks, even depression. My body was screaming at me. I considered selling the business just to escape the weight of it all.
The Wake-Up Call
Everything shifted during a retreat with my EO (Entrepreneurs’ Organization) forum group. A guest speaker led us through exercises that helped me step back and see the bigger picture. That day, I realized I had been building my business through pain and struggle, not alignment and purpose.
It was my wake-up call:
“Change your thoughts and you change your world.”
– Norman Vincent Peale
From there, I began a new journey — not to abandon my business, but to transform myself and how I approached life and work.
Discovering Conscious Creativity
Through reflection, coaching, and research into how the brain works, I began to identify the triggers — money, control, comparison — that drove me from fear instead of truth.
I developed daily practices to reframe these narratives, and over time, everything shifted. I stopped creating from fear and started creating from my truth, passion, and purpose.
This became the foundation of what I call conscious creativity — building from joy, intention, and alignment rather than struggle.
Leading With Truth
As my approach changed, so did the company. I no longer showed up as a “CEO” in the traditional sense, but as a Chief Empowerment Officer.
The company's purpose became simple but powerful: “Get Better, Together.”
Helping teammates grow.
Driving success for clients.
Empowering ourselves.
The culture thrived. Employees felt supported. We were ranked as one of the best places to work locally and nationally. And I no longer came to work with dread — I came energized, grateful, and aligned with my truth.
Why Practice Self Exists
When my chapter with meltmedia closed after the sale and my exit in 2024, I knew my next chapter had to honor this journey.
Practice Self is that next chapter: a space to help people and teams actualize the best version of themselves through the same principles that transformed my life and business.
If my story resonates with you, I invite you to connect. Your path to self-actualization begins with a single step — and the courage to practice it daily.
